What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

PRP is the concentration of platelet cells separated from the blood. These platelets have millions of growth factors that regenerate aged or damaged skin, by stimulating stem cells that will form new collagen, new blood vessels and new skin cells. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is an advanced treatment in aesthetics and regenerative medicine. It is also know as “The Vampire Facial” and popularised by Hollywood stars in recent years. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a unique treatment appealing to those who value a natural facial rejuvenation treatment.

At Aglow Aesthetics, we routinely use PRP to rejuvenate the following areas:

• Facial Collagen Stimulation
• Under eye Skin Rejuvenation
• Back of Hands Rejuvenation
• Scalp Hair Regrowth

PRP is a 3-step procedure:

1. Blood will be drawn from your arm
2. The test tube containing your blood would be placed in a medical device called a centrifuge, which separates your blood into layers. One of these layers contains a high concentration of platelets.
3. Your clinician injects the blood that contains the high concentration of platelets into your face or scalp, using a Syringe, Mesotherapy or Microneedling device.

What to expect during the procedure:

• Topical numbing cream will be applied to the desired area for approximately 45 minutes prior to the procedure.
• While the area is numbing, your blood will be drawn and the PRP will be processed.
• Before the procedure begins, the area is cleansed and the numbing cream is removed.
• Alcohol wipes will be applied onto the face and antiseptic solution or Betadine will be applied to the scalp.
• The PRP will then be injected using a Mesotherapy for a more precise and even delivery of PRP into the skin and scalp, a syringe or microneedling device.
• Afterwards, the area is cleansed and you can go back to your normal routine. Post-treatment restrictions are minimal and are limited to at-home care.

PRP Advantages:

• Fundamental Solution
PRP is one of the most fundamental skin regeneration treatments based on the natural healing
process of the human body.
The collection of highly concentrated growth factors (mostly from platelets) will highly boost skin
cell regeneration and give the skin a more youthful complexion. It’s 100% natural and no side effects.

• Strong Efficacy
PRP makes your skin look younger, plumped and beautiful by improving skin tone, texture and
elasticity as well as increasing the lost volume via the production of collagen and elastin.

• The Result of PRP Last Longer
The effects are not permanent but can last over a year on average, depending on patients skin
characteristics and level of everyday skin care. It is usually recommended to have a successive PRP
treatment 12 months after the first injection, and a yearly re-touch may help to extend the effects.

• Everyone Is Suitable
PRP is suitable for anyone but pregnant or breast feeding patients, people taking blood thinning medication and patients with bleeding and clotting disorders.
PRP is harvested from your own blood and its facial injections are minimally invasive. Therefore there is
no risk of any side effects or allergic reactions.

• Operation Time & Downtime
The PRP treatments takes just 20 minutes and you can easily return to your daily routine right
after receiving the PRP injection.

PRP is suitable for you, if you:

1. Want supple and plump skin
2. Have fine wrinkles and saggy skin
3. Need to improve your skin tone
4. Want a safe treatment with no side effects
5. Prefer short downtime with little visible sight of treatment.

Can I put on make-up after PRP Therapy?
Some patients may experience common side effects such as redness, swelling and tenderness.
